As far as Halo 3 is concerned, I don't know if I can bring myself to buy a 360 or even the game. I was really pumped after playing the first game and went out and bought a X-box and Halo. Then bought Halo 2 as soon as it came out and have been somewhat happy with it. The problem I see is when I bought my X-box it was for only like $300 and the 360 is no where near that price. Plus I wont be able to play it much because of school, they should of released Halo 3 in the spring, then I could play over summer.
I am kind of a Halo fanatic...so I am a little biased. But, the thing I love about Halo2 is that I can jump online and play a game or two (20 minutes tops) to get a study break in. That is probably why I rarely get into RPGs or other games that require a ton of involvement.
As far as cost, you could also justify it by using it as a Media Center Extender (record tv on your PC and stream to Xbox 360). I do this, and it's pretty sweet. I refuse to pay for digital cable -------------------------
If anyone is looking for a basketball game, College Hoops 2K8 is the best hoops game available, by far. 2kshare allows you to upload rosters, sliders, dynasties, etc and share them. That will be especially useful since EA has the exclusive NCAA license now.... Some things man was never meant to know, for everything else there's Google.
Dude, Burnout Revenge is pretty cool. My brother just burned it the other weekend and we played a little bit. They removed some of the familiar modes that the previous game had though.
BTW, if you're interested in modding your 360 to play backed up games just ask. I've successfully done this on two machines. It is also undetectable by Xbox Live so you can play online w/o worrying about getting your account banned! We've been doing it for a few months now nonstop with no probs.
Yeah, I've always enjoyed the Burnout games, may have to check it out.
Wow, that's interesting about modding it, because that was my primary concern. Something I may check out before I leave Iowa City next year. Some things man was never meant to know, for everything else there's Google.

I will sell you my copy of Burnout Revenge if you want for cheap. I recently purchased Burnout Paradise (which honestly isnt as good, but better gfx). Justin "jstad" Smestad

Nah, not right now, I barely have time to play CHoops 2K8 as it is. Maybe in a few months. Some things man was never meant to know, for everything else there's Google.
Has anyone played Lost Odyssey? Japanese style RPGs are real hit-or-miss for me, but I've heard generally good things. Wanted to know what you guys think of it. Some things man was never meant to know, for everything else there's Google.
This weekend I played a little GTA4 at my brother's and I've got to say it's worth the purchase when it's officially released tomorrow. The physics are more realistic in this version which makes driving a little bit less fun, but the other added features make up for it. You can now choose to fight back at the police when you are arrested (however, I don't advise unless you're packing heat). Also, if a car is locked you can tap LB/RB before hitting Y to break the window and steal it.
Aside from the driving not being as fun I noticed that the fill distance (don't know if that's the right term) is rather short. In other words, the background in the distance gets drawn in at what seems like the last second. Hopefully this won't be the case in the retail release, but in the version that I played it was really noticeable.
Also, if you own a 360 you can head over to xbox-scene and learn how to mod your firmware. Then you can play games that haven't even been released yet!

Can't wait for the PC port. If history is any indication it'll be about a year but maybe faster because they ported it to the Xbox 360 for release day.
Considering I only have 3 360 games now, my library will be getting a lot bigger. Some things man was never meant to know, for everything else there's Google.
If no one's said it already Mass Effect and Assasin's Creed are awesome games. I could lend you Assassin's if you want, I'm not using it right now. As for mass effect I have another friend that it's loaned out to currently.
Yep, we all love us the Mass Effect...haven't played Assassin's Creed. Heard it was fun, but not as fun as it could have been. Some things man was never meant to know, for everything else there's Google.
I got the HD VGA cable for my 360, so now I can play all the games in HD on my computer monitor with surround sound from my computer speakers. It sure beats investing in a TV (let alone an HD one).
A buddy of mine that I worked at Pearson with had his setup on a HDTV, and it was quite the difference for graphics. I remember seeing Fight Night on his setup, and being pretty wowed.
Yes, standard def vs HD on the 360 makes a huge difference. My brother and I are running in 1080i via component cables right now and it looks great. However, the TV supports 1080p and we'd like to get the games running in progressive scan. Does the 360 support this? Do we need the HDMI cable for that?

Nick, you do need the HDMI cable for anything greater than 720p/1080i. The 360 is 1080p capable, but I'm not sure if all the games or TVs will truly will work in 1080p. Probably anything purchased recently will be, but from what I've read, some of the older 1080p models might have problems.

As I keep reading on, most 360 games are native 720p. From wiki: "On the Xbox 360, only three retail games are rendered natively at 1080p, they are NBA Street Homecourt, Virtua Tennis 3 and FIFA Street 3." So Creative Assembly has done a fantastic job on the Total War series, but apparently Stormrise absolutely sucks. That stinks Some things man was never meant to know, for everything else there's Google.
Looking forward to Dragon Age: Origins (though I may get this on PC), Mass Effect 2, and Alpha Protocol. Some things man was never meant to know, for everything else there's Google.
I'm looking forward to seeing Mass Effect 2, Assasin's Creed 2, and but am personally preparing to lose my life to Modern Warfare 2 in under 14 days lol

I've been playing CoD Modern Warfare 2 for the past couple days and I can say that it is VERY fun. I highly recommend purchase once it's released officially. Great graphics/sound, very fun gameplay, realistic enemy death, and fun missions. The only complaint I have is that sometimes when running and trying to turn it can be difficult...but that is mostly due to the limitations of console games and not this particular implementation.
